  • A tanker truck was traveling too fast for conditions and overturned while negotiating the corner by Sheetz at the intersection of Routes 29 and 17 Thursday morning April 22, 2004 near Bealeton, VA.  The driver, Norman Kauffman, was not injured and declined medical treatment.

Steiner, Peter Hunter, and the cows owner (who requested to be unnamed) struggle to pull a cow out of a swimming pool after draining the pool. The cow had escaped from a nearby farm and run onto the pool cover and punctured it with her hoofs.

  • Margery Olinger Smith of Bealeton celebrated her 103rd birthday Thursday at Liberty United Methodist church in Bealeton, where she's been a member all her life.  After the band playing for the celebration, The Country Troubadours,  started playing  the 1920s song 'Margie' (with the same name as her), she recognized it after the first several notes and instantly lit up.  "That's an OLD song!" she said and admitted that she danced to it when she was a teenager.

  • After reading a story about Amelia Earhart in a 1935 Weekly Reader when she was in 3rd or 4th grade, Eileen Lenherr always dreamed of flying in an open cockpit biplane like Amelia. For her 90th birthday present, her children and grandchildren made this life long dream come true. Eileen brought her 82-year-old Weekly Reader along and finally flew in a 1941 Boeing Steerman biplane at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport in Midland, VA on Saturday 10-14-17.

  • Karen Price used to blow up and tape  balloons on their kitchen ceiling for any holidays or birthdays throughout the year when her kids were younger.  While she was 'gone' (a several year period where she experienced amnesia and she was also confined to a bed or chair) the kids missed it, so now she is starting to do it again and covering the ceiling with white, pink, and red balloons for Valentines Day.
